Keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into epithelial keratins and hair keratins. This gene encodes an epithelial keratin that is expressed in the skin and eccrine sweat glands. The type II keratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q13.[provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009]

Immunofluorescence: cells were fixed with 4% PFA for 10 min at RT, permeabilized with 0.1% NP-40 for 10 min at RT then blocked with 5% BSA for 30 min at RT. Cells were stained with IR222-861-FITC anti-pan Cytokeratin FITC conjugated antibody (green) at 1:500 and 4°C.

Lysates at 30 μg per lane. Nitrocellulose membrane was then blocked an hour before being incubated with IR222-861-FITC overnight at 4°C.
